In a statement, the CHREDO delegation said that a constructive exchange followed on the current situation of the Christians of the Middle East. The meeting also addressed the activities of CHREDO in the field of defending the rights of minorities.
The delegation included Jean Maher (Egyptian), President of OFEDH; Mr. Abou Fadel Rafic (Syrian), the representative of the Orthodox meeting in France; Mrs. Sona Attamia (Armenian), Vice President of the General Union of the Armenians for Charity; Antoine Chedid (Lebanese), president of Lebanese Rally in France; and Elish Yako.
Maher said in the meeting that 39 Copts won seats in the Egyptian parliament. He also pointed to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s visit to Cathedral at Christmas mass for two successive years to congratulate Copts and pointed to the restoration of some churches destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood.
President Obama issued a decision in August to appoint Mr. Knox Thames as special adviser of the U.S. State Department for religious minorities in the Middle East.
CHREDO helps many members of the French National Assembly and the French Senate.
CHREDO said in its statement that Ms Alliot-Marie, former French Defense Minister, participated in filing a complaint to the International Criminal Court against the Islamic State.
