This comes following the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for Egypt on Wednesday at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
"The UK supports the important personal and civil freedoms in the constitution endorsed by the Egyptian people this year," said John Casson, UK ambassador to Cairo, on Wednesday.
He added in his statement that the UK, "encourages the Egyptian government to implement these fundamental rights and freedoms in full."
"Human rights are integral to this vision because no country can enjoy long-term stability, prosperity, and democracy without protecting the fundamental rights of its people," Casson said.
He also welcomed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s commitment at the UN General Assembly in September, to build a state that respects rights and freedoms.
The UK's statement on Egypt during the UPR in Geneva on Wednesday said it was "deeply concerned by the number of detainees in pretrial detention and restrictions on the freedoms of assembly and association."
It recommended that Egypt revises the controversial NGO draft law and complete a national plan to "[eliminate] violence against women.”
Several states pointed at Egypt's NGO and protest laws as main issues of concern they recommended be revised. Others pointed to issues such as long pre-trial detention, torture and women's rights.
Meanwhile, Egypt defended its position and reiterated its commitment for protecting public rights and freedoms within the boundaries of the law.
