President-elect al-Sisi also received congratulatory phone calls from Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday following his sweeping election victory. Al-Sisi’s election campaign stated that “Sisi expressed his appreciation for their eagerness to communicate with him and congratulate him” and that he will respect all past international treaties with Israel.
