Two Copts Kidnapped in Samalout; Church Laments Police Collusion

-

Fr. Shehata said Abanoub Zarif Bebawi, 18, and Rami Malak Francis, 18, residents of Manqatin village, were kidnapped and detained on Wednesday evening. The kidnappers then contacted their families and demanded a ransom.

According to Fr. Shehata, the reasons behind such repeated attacks on Copts are the collusion of security agencies and their underestimation of Copts as citizens, in addition to the silence of Copts in light of the attacks against them.

Fr. Shehata called on the security apparatus to resume its role in the street, and on the government to wake up. He also called on Copts not to pay the ransoms demanded by assailants, so they do not become easy prey for them.
