The restoration project was divided into three phases, to end by mid 2015. However, the first phase has not been completed yet.

The bishop told MCN, “About 64 churches and Christian institutions were destroyed by the Muslim Brotherhood, including the Catholic churches which authorized the Orthodox Church to follow up the building and restoration operations.”

He said, “The worship places restoration fund is responsible for the expenses of churches restoration. The fund depends mainly on donations. The churches contributed some money, but the state assumed the larger share of the expenses. The restoration work is expected to cost millions of pounds.”
