Preliminary Medical Report on Qena Child Proves Innocence of Coptic Defendant

-

The director of a rights organization, Zidan el-Qenaee, said that the medical report would be submitted to the forensics during the coming two days, and presented to the prosecution afterwards. He added that the preliminary report proves the problem was fabricated, stressing the need for prosecuting the real criminals and instigators. He demanded the authorities not to arrest innocent people randomly.

The organization said in a statement that the authorities arrested a large number of the residents of Marashda and ten Muslims. Egypt’s Interior Ministry of the Muslim Brotherhood government considered them rioters, and the authorities refused to arrest the inciters from the Muslim Brotherhood and other religious groups. Some Muslim families, however, formed public committees to protect the church and shops.

The violent actions were repeated in the village on Saturday, as a number of Muslims attacked and looted the house of the Coptic defendant. Christians of the village are still imprisoned in their houses, fearing potential attacks from Islamists.
