The gala appearance of the boats, illuminated at night and bedecked by day with the flags of all nations, recalls to the traveller something of the charms of Venice.
The few warm days of last week have been succeeded by cooler ones, with delightful spring breezes. A promenade along the river drive reveals the presence of visitors from many climes, but perhaps the Americans outnumber all others.
