Speaking Sunday evening on Manchette program, broadcast on ONTV channel, Demian said that his relative Nabil Mahrous Soliman was killed 15 days ago by two shots fired by a certain Ashraf Halakah because he refused to pay a ransom. Ashraf also killed Domian’s brother and cousin a year ago.
Essam said Sahel Salim village is a corrupt place and police have not taken any action.
Ransoms for kidnappings range between 19,000 to one million pounds (up to $140,000), he said.
Two Coptic Christians from Al-Shamiah village in Assuit were killed in past August because they refused to pay the ransom. Royalties are imposed on Copts of Al-Shamiah, Sahel Salim and other villages in Assuit governorate. Copts were also threatened that they would be abducted and killed if they did not pay ransom and if they filed a report.
