Nabil Naim, head of group “Islamic Jihad,” said that “Egypt was on the verge of a state of bloody violence due to the absence of moderate thought and the deepening of the dispute between the Islamic movements that have become a reaction to the practices of the military junta, which it sees as being against the principles of the Egyptian Revolution, and standing in the face of the establishment of the state of law and Sharia.”
He told “Al-Masry Al-Yom” that “the Islamists have been mislead and are driven by passion and love of Sharia,” adding that “they think they were just around the corner from the full control of the country, through the success of their candidate for the presidency, spoiled by the intervention of the military to the exclude their candidate.”
Naim confirmed that the organization Al-Qaida “exists in Egypt, but the numbers are not so large; most of them in the Sinai, and no more than 500 people,” he says.
He explained that these groups are the remains of the “Survivors of the Fire,” the “Takfir wal Hijra (Atonement and Migration)” and “Qotbists (after Sayed Qotb),” but after the Revolution they “declared their belonging, intellectually and organizationally, to Al-Qaida, following the dissolution of the State Security,” pointing out that these groups “want to draw media and organizational benefit from that.”
He added that “some groups of the Jihad Organization began moving in to put right the organizational status after the catastrophic blows suffered at the hand of the State Security during the period of conflict with the Egyptian state and the security services in particular.”
Naim called upon Sheikh Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, the excluded presidential candidate, to descend in the large demonstrations, and stand along his supporters in order to prevent them from resorting to violence.”
He stressed that “violence is coming as soon as a new president contrary to the will of the jihadists gets elected, especially with their motto; ‘we will go out against the next government, even if it was led by Issam Derbala, a leading Islamic group, or Essam el-Erian, a leading Muslim Brotherhood,’ unless they implement the Sharia of Allah.”
He stated that “violence is coming also in the case of the officers involved in the killing of demonstrators were deemed not guilty (by courts)” he said.
