ml22 Morsi Falsely Claims to Rescue Two Coptic Children Accused of BlasphemyThe lawyer of the two Coptic Children accused of tearing and urinating on verses of the Quran, Guirguis Bebaway, a Coptic lawyer and activist, confirmed that the claim that Morsy interfered to have the two children released is simply false. In an interview given to “Copts United”, Bebaway stated that President Morsy had nothing to do with the Release of Nabil Nady Rizk, 10 years old, and Mina Nagui Farag, 9 years old, who were released last Thursday [Oct 4], after being detained for allegedly profaning the Quran.

Bebaway and a number of other activists have stated that they had submitted a motion to the Attorney General requesting the release of the two children without condition and have them medically examined for signs of physical abuse. Bebaway confirmed that the kids were released on Thursday, at 1:00 PM, and that the presidential statement came out at 03:00 PM of the same day. In the motion, the lawyers pointed out that it is illegal to file a report against minors, unless it involves murder. Bebaway said that he and his team have completed all the release procedures, which ended at 10:00 PM.

The children were taken to a different place until the situation calms down in their village.
