The mass prayer was headed by four priests. Many of the village and neighboring village’ Christians attended the prayer amid a heavy security presence.

 

The monastery includes three ancient churches, one of which one dates back to the fourth century AD.

 

In related news, Deir Mawas prosecution, headed by Mohamed Shams el-Din, ordered 23 Islamists in Delga village to 15 days in prison pending investigations on charges of attacking churches, Coptic houses, and burning the Deir Mawas courts complex on August 14.

 

The security agencies stationed in the village arrested three criminals accused of burning the police station. The military and police forces are carrying out extensive combing operations to arrest the accused on charges of stirring up violence and encouraging outlaws.
