ISIS ‘on Verge of Defeat’ as Russian Jets Cut off Arms Supplies?

-

Russian jets have made 41 sorties and carried out 40 attacks against the twisted terror group in the past 24 hours, a defence official claimed.

The attacks took place in dozens of ISIS strongholds in the Syrian provinces of Aleppo, Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Deir ez-Zur, he added.

Russia's bombing campaign against the so-called caliphate, which controls vast swathes of Syria and Iraq, began earlier this month

General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry, said: "Sukhoi Su-24M bombers delivered pinpoint strikes against terrorist targets near the city of Aleppo.

"They took out workshops used by the militant terrorist group to arm vehicles with explosives, which are used in suicide bomb attacks."

The Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M bombers took off from the Khmeimim airbase in Latakia along with a Su-25SM assault aircraft.

And an attack by Su-25SM ground-support aircraft near Huraytan destroyed the group's arms depot and fuel supplies.

The same planes were reportedly used to obliterate a terrorist training centre in the Idlib province.

Earlier this week Putin accused US official of having "mush for brains" after they refused hand over intelligence about ISIS targets.

He said: "We asked on the military level to give us the targets which they consider to be the terrorist ones for sure, 100 per cent. But the answer was: 'No, we are not ready to do that'.

"Then we thought and asked another question: 'Then could you tell us where we should not hit?' Again, no answer. So, what should we do?"

Washington and its allies have suggested Russia is seeking to prop up Bashar al-Assad's regime rather than defeat ISIS.

But Putin hit back, saying his country wants to "contribute to the fight against terrorism" which threatens "the whole world".
