Iranian Christian Remains in Prison Despite Completing Sentence Term

-

Found guilty of propaganda against the Islamic regime, evangelism, connections with enemies and foreign “anti-regime networks”, and launching a Christian website, Mr Firouzi was sentenced to one year in prison plus two years of exile in Sarbaz, a remote town in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan. It was reported that when family members attempted to pay the 200 million Toman (US$7,300) bail payment set by the judge, they were rejected.

Mohabat News reports that at the same prison, Christian prisoners were denied permission to attend a Christmas and New Year party on 30 December. Prison officials announced the celebration and invited all prisoners to attend, only later telling the Christians that they were not allowed to participate.
