Ex Brotherhood Leader: Group Views Copts As Second-Class Citizens; Public As Unbelievers

-

Speaking in an interview with Egyptian newspaper Youm7, he added the leaders of the Brotherhood view Egyptian society, meaning those outside of the group, as unbelievers. Through this they are able to justify their lies and broken promises as they believe that they are lying to infidels. A mindset that may allow them to go so far as to kill in the name of Islam.

He also criticized Egypt’s political opposition as they failed to deal with such a fascist group, saying that they approached the Brotherhood with good faith, upon naïve understanding of the group, which could prove disastrous for the country.

Kharabawy noted that some members of the Brotherhood are currently considering defection from the group as they feel that it has abandon its original goal of proselytization. Such members, he added, feel that the group has adopted a material goal, seeking power and government rule and pulling further away from a moderate-centrist point of view.

Given this scenario and the current political scene in Egypt, Kharabawy warned that the Brotherhood would find itself alone without any support in Egypt, as public anger will only increase. He noted the failure of Brotherhood to find solutions for the current economic problems as a great factor, predicting that the country would witness what he described as a flood that would overthrow the Muslim Brotherhood during the first half of the year.

Regarding the administration, Kharabawy said that the advisors of President Mohamed Morsi are representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Egyptian presidency. The Brotherhood controls every aspects of the state and the president and his administration are merely puppets in the hands of the group, especially the hands of Deputy Supreme Guide of Muslim Brotherhood Khairat el-Shater.

Kharabawy did note a moment of contention between Morsi and Shater, when the president attempted to use advisors from outside of the Brotherhood, however this was reconciled during a meeting attended by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the crown prince of Qatar.

Kharabawy warned that the Brotherhood would not easily transition out of power, as they believe that Islam is the what truly came to power through their rule and it must continue to reign by any means necessary. Although, he noted, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood never continue in power as they have sparked and feed the public’s hatred for them after only six months in power.
