The young woman's family filed a police report on the incident, accusing a Muslim person of kidnapping her less than two weeks after the disappearance of another Coptic girl in Samalout under mysterious circumstances.
In that context, lawyer Hany Ramses said the law regulates conversion between religions and puts caveats to prevent exploitation of conversion to destabilize the society.
"How do you allow a minor girl to marry just because she is a Christian and the husband is a Muslim?" wondered Ramses, who explained that this is a sectarian view.
He told MCN that the issue is more dangerous than just the marriage of a Christian girl to a Muslim husband, because it would result in families of mixed religions, cultures and customs.
