Bob Corker (R-TN), the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee; Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats; and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), the vice chairman of the U.S. Democratic National Convention.

During President Sisi’s meeting with the delegation on Saturday, which was also attended by U.S. Ambassator to Egypt Robert Beecroft and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, he stressed the importance of military coordination between the two countries. A presidential statement noted that the delegation “acknowledged Egypt’s role as a cornerstone for security and stability in the Middle East, in light of the challenges and the crises it faces.” Sisi also expressed gratitude that U.S. military aid to Egypt had been resumed, after its temporary suspension due to the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

On Sunday, in addition to further meetings with the president, the delegation met with Egyptian Defense Minister Sedky Sobhi to discuss pertinent regional developments and ways to combat terrorism.
