On the eve of Egypt’s presidential elections, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party said on its Facebook page that no less than 48% of participants are (to be) Christians, ahead of Mubarak regime’s supporters, who represent 32%. Liberals and Leftists would make 5% while those from Al-Nour Salafist party 3%.
For a group which claims that Christians in Egypt represent barely 4% of the population, this new claim appears astounding.
On the other hand, posters were seen in several places picturing the Coptic Pope Tawadros next to Mr. Sisi, adorned with a “Lord Jesus Commands You to Vote for El-Sisi.” The visibly forged posters appeared to be part of a clear to incite ugly sectarianism on the elections scene.
